There are many different types of shops you can check and these range from retail stores to the Internet and everything in between.

Retail stores are an obvious choice and are usually people's first stop when looking for pretty much anything. These large stores have a variety of merchandise and will always have a section full of curtains, drapes, and ways to hang them up and keep them clean. Before you even go to a store, make sure you take accurate measurements so you know what to buy. If your window is 35 inches tall and is 35 inches above the floor, you have many options at your disposal. You could get some 45 inch long drapes to give you some extra fabric to work with or you could get some that are 80 inches long so they can reach the floor. You need to look at your windows and get a good idea in your head before you head out shopping. You will also need to figure out what color and style you will want to use.

Specialty stores are similar to retail stores but specialize in one particular area. A good example is a furniture store. They sell furniture and accessories but that's all. You should be able to find a good drape shop in your area if you live in a large city but if you live somewhere less populated, the Internet will probably be your only choice.

The Internet is probably the best place to visit when looking for cheap curtains and drapes. You can find all kinds of privately run businesses that will sell you cheap drapes and ship them to you at a pretty reasonable cost. Some great sites to check are the ones that deal only in curtains and drapes or sites that specialize in overstocked or discontinued merchandise. You can often find things at 50 percent of the normal price.
