Sound Proofing Drapes

In today's noisy and busy world, sometimes it's nice to be able to get away from it all without actually having to get away. Your home should be your sanctuary and that is hard to pull off if you live near a busy road or your neighbors have 10 Chihuahuas that bark day and night. It can really effect your piece of mind if you don't get some quiet time once in a while. This is especially important in your bedroom. One of the easiest ways to quiet your house down and escape from the noisy world is to buy some high quality sound proofing drapes.

Sound proofing drapes are similar to normal drapes but are much thicker and may have a couple of layers. One layer will be a light filtering layer so you can let in sunlight during the day. True sound proofing drapes will have one more layer in the middle that is light and foamy material. This helps absorb sounds and also blocks out light. The thick outer layer holds it all together and is the last barrier between the outside world and your ears. When you shut these completely, the sound level should be drastically diminished. No drapes will completely sound proof your house but they should be very effective nonetheless.

An added benefit to sound proofing drapes is that they are great insulators. If you live somewhere that is very cold in the winter, these drapes will keep your heating bill low giving you extra spending money for something fun. In the summer they will also help keep your air conditioner running smoothly as heat from outside will stay outside.

Sound proofing drapes don't have to be dull either. There are many styles available that are very beautiful and can add to the overall feel of your room. You can get them in almost any color, length, and width and can be used in any room of your house. You can usually find these drapes at retail stores and the Internet. Some may feature a decibel level on them that can be used as a rough guideline for how much sound they will actually block.
