Where To Hang Drapes
People can use various styles of drapes to make a room into much more than it is by itself. By adding flowing long drapes, any room can look more formal and by adding short colorful drapes, the room has an added air of fun. Drapes come in so many different shapes and sizes, the only limit is your imagination and maybe your pocketbook. There are many places to hang your drapes in relation to your windows but the choice is all up to you and what you are trying to accomplish with that room.
Older houses that are very large can have a formal undertone to almost every room no matter what. You can really bring this out by hanging drapes that hang far past the bottom of your windows. You can have the drapes hang all the way to the floor and in some cases even have them rest in a flowing pool of fabric at the bottom. Very long drapes can add a romantic feel to any room if they have a romantic color such as a deep red.
For a kitchen, the best way to hang drapes is to have them hang just below the windowsill. This adds an air of relaxation and informality that long drapes can't provide. They are also much easier to clean since there isn't as much fabric to worry about. Accidents happen in the kitchen and you should use easily replaceable drapes if you have a kid, dog or both. All it takes is a slip with a plate of spaghetti and those $100 drapes will be ruined forever.
To add flair to a room, you have a ton of choices in the area of curtain rods, hooks, and hangers as well. These are needed to hang your drapes anyway so you might as well find something that will bring out the feel you are going for in your room. There are very beautiful rods made from all types of wood that can be used to personalize your rooms but these can be pricey. It's a good idea to check around online to make sure you get the best prices available.
