Window Blinds Parts
Window blinds can make your room look beautiful that's for sure. Anyone who has installed some has had the unpleasant experience of fiddling with all of the different parts though. Getting these little pieces and pulleys in their proper position so they actually work could make a nun spew profanity. Depending on what type of blinds you have, you could have many different parts. Lets take a look at some that you may have had some experience with.
Most blinds you buy at a retail store will come with a little packet of screws and brackets. The brackets are what hang on your wall and hold the curtain rod. These brackets are supposed to just screw into the wall nicely, and hold the weight of the drapes or blinds just fine. If you are very lucky, you can get them in the precise position the first time without having a bunch of little screw holes all over the place. It's a good idea to use a laser level if you have one and a measuring tape.
Cords, tilt gears, and tilt gear wands usually work pretty well for a long time. If you have kids who like to twist the wand often or cats who like to hang on the cords, there may be some damage done that could lead to irritation and even total replacement. In theory, the cords should enable you to pull on one side and open your drapes. The twist wand should turn your blinds from closed to open. That's pretty easy to understand but there are a lot of little parts involved that may require examination once in a while. If you notice anything broken, dented, or missing, check your little bag that came with your blinds to make sure you didn't forget it when you installed them. If you did, you might have to order some replacement parts.
Blinds often get pulled on, dented, and utterly messed up. When you clean them it's a good idea to use a soft duster at first and maybe a soft cloth with some bleach water after that. If you use anything too heavy, you might dent and twist the blinds yourself. Just be easy on them and try to keep cats and kids from pulling on them and they will last a long time.
